Moths to Monarchs: The Making of a Matriarch.
We can’t talk about Kaleidoscope Palace without explaining the back story of Lion Rose Records. Launching in 2020, Lion Rose Records was a company started to encourage and support BIPOC women and femmes in business ownership, digital design, event consultation, and music production. Salecia Barry, having known all too well the impacts of sexual violence, was deeply moved by how many other women and femmes shared similar stories. Moreover, how many of these stories had come from black creatives who were seeking to make art and were taken advantage of by those they were seeking support from. Turning emotions into action, Salecia set out to create a space where BIPOC women and femmes could reclaim their narratives and be heard. Keeping the same goal at its core, Kaleidoscope Palace has expanded into the multi-media publishing house it is today.
